The WooCommerce Software Add-on gives you the ability to manage licence keys and activations via your store.

To get started with this extension you will need to:

Create some software products
Optionally integrate your software/web app with the API

WooCommerce Software Add On introduces a new product type, called ‘Software’ which lets you sell licence keys. You can use this in conjunction with the downloadable type if it lets the user download the product at the same time.

When this product type is selected, a new tab in ‘Product data’ meta box will open, called ‘Software’.

The fields in this panel are as follows:

Product ID – A string to identify this product. This is used by the API and should be unique to the software you are selling.
Licence key prefix – Optionally prefix generated licence keys with this string.
Secret key – A random string which will be the secret key. When creating keys via the API you will need to provide this string.
Version – Version number for your software.
Activation limit – How many times the user can activate this software, also how many instances they may have activated. Leave blank to impose no limits.
There are also options specific to upgrades:
Upgradable product – The name of the product this software is upgrading from.
Upgrade price – Price for the upgrade, if it differs from the main product price.
Valid upgrade keys – Comma separate the valid licence keys which can be used for the upgrade.
Used upgrade keys – Used keys will be added here, comma separated.

To manage all licences, there are a few new screens and meta boxes available in the WooCommerce backend.

Software reports

Two new reports are available via WooCommerce > Reports in the admin panel. The first, ‘Overview’ in the Software tab, shows numbers of the software sales from your store.

The second report in the Software tab, ‘Activations’, shows the activations of your software within a certain time frame.

Licence Keys overview

This screen is available via WooCommerce > Licence Keys in the admin panel. It provides an overview of all licences in the system and to which product they belong. You can see all the data that is stored within a licence.

Order Licence Keys

The edit order screen got a new meta box which shows all the licences bought within this order. You can also add new licences to existing orders.

Activations per order

The edit order screen got a new meta box which shows all the activations of licences bought within this order. You can also toggle the status of a single activation from here.

API
Along with the code comes a test script in the examples-folder of the plugin. This plugin allows you to post data to the API for testing purposes.
